The Technology behind thermally-broken window and door systems

ClimateGuard window, door and framing systems includes thermally-broken technology, which consists of a polyamide strip that sits between the interior and exterior aluminium profiles. This strip minimises the transfer of heat and cold through the aluminium frame, providing an insulation barrier that significantly improves comfort and energy efficiency.

ClimateGuard helps maintain an ideal temperature in residential and commercial buildings, in fact its windows and doors deliver up to 50% more energy efficiency, compared to non-thermally broken aluminium systems. Installing a ClimateGuard system into a commercial building, can significantly improve thermal performance as it reduces the need for artificial heating and cooling.

U-Values & SHGC

The thermal performance of our ClimateGuard thermally broken systems can be illustrated by its
U-values SHGC and WERS ratings.

U-value is the measure of how readily a window or door system conducts heat. When referring to windows it is expressed as Uw. The lower the Uw value, the greater a windows resistance to hot and cold. ClimateGuard U-values are as low as 1.45, which illustrates its ability to minimise heat transfer between inside and outside environments, and its exceptional insulation properties.

The Solar Heat Gain Co-efficient (SHGC) measures how effectively a window or door system blocks heat caused by sunlight. ClimateGuard significantly reduces solar heat with a rating as low as 0.25 SHGC.

WERS Ratings

The Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS) is accredited by the Australian Fenestration Rating Council. It is a 10 star system used to rate the annual energy of windows and doors based on its u-value and SHGC. The higher the star rating for a system, the more energy efficient it is.
